2017 Spring Update: We have found a wonderful home for Rowen with the Remlinger Farm Pony Rides! He's doing very well as a lead-line pony, and a favorite to all the little ones. We are so happy for you, Rowen!
2016: Rowen is a healthy and sweet 9yo paint Shetland lead-line only pony. We love this little, funny guy!
He's been an in-hand, lead line ONLY with the littles. He does very well as a lead line pony and the little kids just love him.
He does just fine with all the basics with just a halter and lead rope and a bareback pad. He stops easily, moves forward with a couple of clucks and a squeeze.
Kids can run and rush up to him in the paddocks and fields with puppets and stick horses and all kinds of "scary" things. He just stands there and accepts the oncoming rushing hugs. He's really great with everyone. Stands for hours to be groomed. He will greet you at the fence and he's easy to catch in the field, or if he gets out (kids leaving the gate unlocked or open). He's very kind with his face, legs, body and feet. He is who I've used to teach the kids how to pick hooves and groom. Stands calmly while a child tries to throw a saddle or bareback pad on and cinch it up.
Last floated, wormed and vaccinated on 1/4/17. He's super fuzzy and muddy right now since we don't wash in the winter. He's at a good weight. I slow-net feed 2nd cut timothy and do not blanket him, just to keep his weight under control. Always barefoot and trimmed every 6weeks.
He needs a companion to buddy with. He's very social and needs a horse/goat friend.
Rowen is a sneaky pony that doesn't like to be left behind when the others are going for a ride. He will try to sneak by out the gate from on the other side of the larger horse. He's a little rascal.
